The largest-ever retrospective of artist Hajime Sorayama, titled “SORAYAMA: Light, Transparency, Reflection TOKYO,” will be held at CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO in Kyobashi, Tokyo, from March 14 (Sat) to May 31 (Sun), 2026.
The exhibition will feature Sorayama’s very first robot artwork, originally created in 1978 for a whisky advertisement, along with his latest canvas pieces exploring robotic forms of dinosaurs, unicorns, and more. Also on view will be original drawings for AIBO, the robotic dog he designed, iconic works such as the Aerosmith album cover, new sculptural pieces, and a newly produced video installation.
Spanning from the late 1970s to the present, this retrospective offers an immersive experience of Sorayama’s artistic core, his lifelong pursuit of light, transparency, and reflection, concepts he has explored for over half a century through the limited yet expressive medium of paint.
