Yasuyuki Horigome’s solo project “Uma no Hone” celebrates its 20th anniversary with the release of its first best-of album, ”BEST OF UMA NO HONE 2005-2025,” on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
“Uma no Hone” was launched by Horigome in 2005 while he was a member of KIRINJI. The project released its debut album ”Uma no Hone” in 2005, followed by the second album ”River” in 2009. The track “Moegara” from the first album was also featured as the ending song in the 2021 Netflix film “We Couldn’t Become Adults.”
The best-of album features 11 remastered tracks carefully selected by Horigome, including a brand-new song, “Let’s Get Crazy,” his first new release in about 16 years. For the recording of the new track, the original members from the first album reunited. The album jacket features photography inspired by the debut album “Uma no Hone.”
To celebrate 20 years of “Uma no Hone,” we decided to release a best of album. Honestly, I hadn’t realized it myself until my staff pointed it out. I thought, “Wow, has it really been 20 years?” I’m truly grateful to everyone who helped make this release possible.
Even though Uma no Hone has only two albums, “Uma no Hone” and “River,” choosing the tracks for the best of album was not easy. I wanted to include some of the more relaxed, offbeat songs unique to the project, but ultimately went with a more classic selection. Along the way, I realized that condensing the two albums into one creates a really strong collection. It was a late discovery, but a very satisfying one. Narrowing 20 songs down to 10 was challenging, but it is something that will influence my future work.
We also recorded a brand new track, “Let’s Get Crazy,” with the original Uma no Hone members. Despite everyone’s busy schedules, they gave their time and delivered incredible performances. I cannot thank them enough. I am very happy with how the song turned out and believe listeners will enjoy it as a true new Uma no Hone track.”
