Tokyo’s Shibuya WWW will host SUKIYAKI TOKYO 2025 on August 26 and 27, featuring a selection of artists from SUKIYAKI MEETS THE WORLD, the long-running festival in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, known for showcasing contemporary music and culture from around the globe. Each night of the Tokyo edition will feature two acts, offering audiences a different atmosphere from the festival’s hall performances in Toyama.
On August 26, Brazil’s large-scale instrumental ensemble Bixiga 70 will make their Japan debut, joined by the 10-member Japanese act AJATE, active both domestically and internationally. The following day, August 27, Chinese composer and electronic musician HOWIE LEE will perform, alongside Japanese percussionist and musician Mami Kakudo.
In addition, a special spin-off event, SUKIYAKI ITABASHI, will be held on August 28 at DIORAMA Skate Lounge in Itabashi. Organized by musician Takuto Hirose—known for his work with percussion ensemble BAQUEBA, his duo with Ainu singer Mayunkiki, and the Nishikawa siblings project—the event is co-hosted with the SUKIYAKI MEETS THE WORLD executive committee. According to organizers, the goal is “to create a new local community in Tokyo by connecting the dots of global music,” with Hirose’s hometown of Itabashi serving as the debut venue.
International performers for SUKIYAKI ITABASHI include Lindigo Family from Réunion and Monsieur Doumani from Cyprus, joined by Japanese artists Anna Sato from Amami and Mayunkiki.
Tickets for SUKIYAKI TOKYO 2025 are available via Ticket Pia and ePlus, while SUKIYAKI ITABASHI tickets can be purchased through Hirose’s website, Marueiroku Sei, on BASE.
