Story
“What a worthless life I’ve led.”
As Akutsu, an elderly life-sentenced prisoner, faces death in his cell, he is spoken to by Housenka, a being who can manipulate human words. Through their “conversation,” Akutsu begins to reflect on his past.
Summer, 1987. A seaside town. Akutsu, a low-level yakuza, starts living in an apartment with Nana, her young son, and Housenka, under the care of his senior, Tsutsumi. From the veranda, large fireworks can be seen. Though these days are happy, one day Akutsu suddenly needs a large sum of money. He and Tsutsumi plan to steal 300 million yen from the gang.
“Once you’ve burned your bridges, all that’s left is a chance for a big comeback.”
A story of one man’s life and love.
