Fukuoka is set to come alive this September with Fukuoka Music Month 2025, a month-long celebration that brings together five of the city’s most prominent music events under one umbrella.
Since its inception in 2014, Fukuoka Music Month has unified key annual festivals such as SUNSET LIVE and MUSIC CITY TENJIN, showcasing the city’s rich and diverse music scene. Now in its 11th year, the event continues to promote Fukuoka as a vibrant “music city” to audiences across Japan and Asia.
The festivities kick off with BAYFES, a three-day free-entry festival from September 5 to 7 at Bayside Place Hakata, featuring performances by Ken Yokoyama (Crazy Ken Band), Lil Summer, and the Japanese debut of Taiwanese artist Andr, among others.

Following that, on September 13 and 14, NAKASU JAZZ transforms the bustling Nakasu district into a sprawling outdoor jazz stage, hosting acts like fox capture plan, TRI4TH, and kiki vivi lily. This event offers free admission to all attendees.

On September 20, the island venue Nokonoshima Camp Village hosts Isla de Salsa, a world music festival featuring salsa, reggae, Okinawan folk, and more. Spanish salsa band TROMBORANGA and several local acts will perform in this nature-surrounded setting.

The same weekend, Sing! HAKATA—one of Japan’s largest community singing events—takes place at JR Hakata Station Square on September 20 and 21. The event includes gospel, choir, and a cappella stages, along with special guest performances by artists like Mika Nakashima.

Closing the month-long celebration on September 27 and 28 is MUSIC CITY TENJIN, one of Kyushu’s largest free live music festivals. Spanning public squares, streets, and venues around the Tenjin district, the event features a wide array of live performances and integrates the local TENJIN SHOWTIME series. Simultaneously, the PARC ON music festival will run inside Fukuoka PARCO, with the city-born singer-songwriter Mega Shinnosuke’s new song “Nerd to Tenshi” serving as the 2025 theme.

Additionally, Fukuoka Music Month 2025 teams up with Spotify to deliver curated playlists and a podcast series hosted by general producer Kenjiro Fukamachi, offering fans more ways to engage with Fukuoka’s dynamic music culture.
