South Korean indie rock band SE SO NEON dropped their latest single “Remember!” on June 20, along with the announcement of their upcoming album NOW, scheduled for release on August 15.
Fronted by producer and multi-instrumentalist Soyoon, SE SO NEON is known for their distinctive lo-fi vintage sound that fuses blues, psychedelic rock, new wave, and synth-pop influences. Since their formation in 2016, the band has become a leading name in Korea’s indie music scene, winning Best Rock Song and Best New Artist at the 15th Korean Music Awards for their 2017 single “The Wave.” Internationally, they have collaborated with artists like Japanese Breakfast and BTS’s RM, while in Japan they have participated in Ryuichi Sakamoto tribute concerts, covered Haruomi Hosono, and featured on tracks by KIRINJI.
Looking ahead, SE SO NEON plans a headlining tour across major U.S. cities this fall, marking their expanding presence from Asia to the global stage.
“Remember!” — the follow-up to May’s “Twit Winter” — is released in both Korean and English versions. Soyoon revealed that the song was deeply inspired by her close friendship with Ryuichi Sakamoto and their recent parting, saying, “Through the death of others, I sometimes come to understand myself.”
The track was co-produced by Soyoon and Jon Nellen, who is also known for collaborating with Nick Hakim. Mixing was handled by Nathan Boddy, an engineer who has worked with Pink Pantheress and Geordie Greep of black midi. The song’s structure shifts between introspective calm and powerful peaks, conveying a nostalgic theme alongside a heartfelt atmosphere. The music video, directed by Soyoon herself, was released simultaneously.
Regarding the upcoming album NOW, Soyoon said, “I believe everyone will feel my energy and soul.” The album, primarily in Korean, is expected to resonate beyond language barriers.
