NiEW will host the free music event ‘exPoP!!!!! Vol.174’ on Friday, June 27, at Spotify O-nest in Shibuya, Tokyo. Sponsored by the music distribution platform TuneCore Japan, the event will showcase performances by four artists: Amaiwana, Aki, Satou Moka, and SUKISHA.
Among the featured performers is Amaiwana, a Kyoto-born singer-songwriter known for blending influences from Showa-era technopop, new wave, dream pop, and the 1990s Shibuya-kei music scene. She describes her unique style as “dream punk,” which fuses music and fashion in a fresh and innovative way. Beyond her music releases, Amaiwana has appeared in TV commercials and contributed songs to various projects. She expanded her reach internationally with her first overseas tour in Taiwan in 2024 and further boosted her profile by guest performing with GINGER ROOT at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the United States.
Satou Moka is a singer-songwriter from Okayama who began her serious music career in 2018. Her heartfelt breakup songs, which tenderly capture the pain of lost love, have gained strong support on social media platforms like TikTok. She has around 150,000 subscribers on YouTube and has earned high praise from notable musicians such as Eno Kawakami and Yoshio Tsutaya. Her latest single, “Ai wa Wana” (Love is a Trap), is used as the ending theme for the drama ”Otto yo, Shinde Kurenai ka” (Husband, Won’t You Die?).
Satou Moka is a singer-songwriter from Okayama who started her career in earnest in 2018. Her heartbreak songs, which make sad love sound lovely, have gained support on social networking services such as TikTok, and her YouTube channel has about 150,000 subscribers.
SUKISHA is a music project led by Hiroyuki Ikezawa, a Tokyo-based musician born in 1986 in Nagano City. His 2017 music video for “4-fun han no Magic” (4 and a Half Minutes of Magic) has surpassed 250,000 views, gaining notable attention. He maintains a unique approach by producing every aspect of his music solo, resulting in a rich catalog of songs. Blending genres like hip-hop, R&B, neo-soul, electro, and city pop, SUKISHA offers a refined and eclectic sound. On May 14 (Wednesday), he released his latest album, ‘Art of Dazzling Swirl,’ which was recorded almost entirely in a single live studio session with an audience and minimal editing.
