ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION is set to embark on a split tour with Northern Ireland’s ASH this October, touring five cities across Japan.
The bands’ friendship dates back to 2004, when both performed at the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL. Their connection deepened in 2005 when ASH joined ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s inaugural NANO-MUGEN FES. at Yokohama Arena. ASH returned to the festival in 2008 and 2011, performing a total of three times.
A memorable collaboration took place in 2011 during Manic Street Preachers’ solo Japan tour, where ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s guitarist and vocalist Kensuke Kita joined ASH on stage. Since then, both bands have sustained a close relationship through various concerts in Japan and abroad, building over 20 years of camaraderie as contemporaries in the music scene.
This upcoming tour marks another chapter in their long-standing friendship, bringing together two influential bands for a unique split tour experience across Japan.

ASH was formed in 1992 by school friends when they were teenagers. Their debut album, 1977, and their third album, Free All Angels, both reached number one on the UK charts, creating a sensation in the Britpop scene. In April 2025, they released their latest track, “Jump in the Line,” and they are scheduled to perform at one of the world’s largest outdoor festivals, the Glastonbury Festival, in late June. Their upcoming AD ASTRA TOUR across the UK and Ireland, starting in September, has already sold out several shows, proving that even after more than 30 years since their formation, ASH continues to be active at the forefront of the music scene.
ASH’s first Japan tour in about two and a half years since spring 2023 will kick off on Tuesday, October 14, in Fukuoka. The tour will then visit five cities: Osaka, Nagoya, Sendai, and Yokohama. Official fastest-lottery ticket applications are open until Sunday, June 8. There is also a “U-23 Support Ticket” available for those aged 23 and under at the time of the concert.
