Suchmos has returned with a fresh single, releasing “Whole of Flower” on May 28, 2025. Along with this new track, the band announced that their latest EP, Sunburst, will be released on July 2, marking their first new work in six years.
Since their formation in January 2013, Suchmos has carved out a unique place in the Japanese music scene by blending rock, jazz, hip-hop, and other Black music influences. Their popularity grew steadily, culminating in a memorable performance at the prestigious NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen in 2018. However, in February 2021, the band announced a hiatus to focus on personal growth, describing the break as a “period of training.”
In October 2024, Suchmos announced their official comeback, exciting fans with the news of two upcoming solo concerts at Yokohama Arena scheduled for June 21 and 22, 2025, under the banner Suchmos “The Blow Your Mind 2025.”
The new single “Whole of Flower” showcases the band’s signature stylish sound combined with a lively melody that hints at a new chapter in their musical journey. The forthcoming EP Sunburst will feature four tracks, including the new single. The release also includes a special collaboration with bassist Ren Yamamoto from LAGHEADS, adding fresh energy to their sound.
