The DJ event series “EKINAKA FRIDAY” is captivating audiences inside Takanawa Gateway Station every Friday night from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on an irregular schedule. This free event is part of the music programming for “TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY,” which officially opened on March 27.
Produced by JR East in collaboration with the limited-time night museum bar and club “ZERO-SITE Takanawa Gateway,” open for just four months, “EKINAKA FRIDAY” offers a unique experience. Held on the third floor outside the station’s south ticket gate, the event space overlooks the bustling train tracks below, creating a striking blend of everyday urban scenery and vibrant nightlife.
Since its inception, “EKINAKA FRIDAY” has showcased an impressive and eclectic lineup of artists. Previous editions featured performances by ZEN-LA-ROCK and Shingo Takahashi, the dance label TREKKIE TRAX CREW, and Yasuharu Konishi of Pizzicato Five, among others, attracting music lovers eager to experience this innovative event in a one-of-a-kind setting.
The event is scheduled as a series of 10 sessions in total. Upcoming performances include CAPTAIN VINYL — featuring DJ MURO and DJ NORI playing back-to-back sets using only 7-inch records—on Friday, May 23; DJ KAORI on Friday, June 6; DJ EMMA on Friday, June 20; okadada and DJ POIPOI on Friday, July 4; and DJ HASEBE on Friday, July 18.
