The film ‘Boy Kills World‘ will be released in Japan on September 19th (Friday) at Shinjuku Piccadilly and other theaters nationwide.
Produced by Sam Raimi, known for Evil Dead and Spider-Man, this action film follows Boy, a young protagonist who loses his family to a massacre and is left both mute and deaf in a post-apocalyptic world. Driven by the “inner voice” of a character from a game he loved as a child, Boy undergoes hellish training under the mysterious figure of the Shaman. As the “Silent Slayer,” Boy faces his fate on the annual “Day of Purge.”
Bill Skarsgård plays the role of Boy, while the Shaman is portrayed by Yayan Ruhian, an expert in Indonesian martial art “Silat.” H. Jon Benjamin voices Boy’s “inner voice.” The cast also includes Famke Janssen, Sharlto Copley, Andrew Koji, Brett Gelman, Jessica Rothe, and Michelle Dockery. The film is directed by Moritz Mohr, marking his feature film debut.
The recently released international trailer showcases scenes where Boy, guided by his “inner voice,” immerses himself in intense training and engages in action sequences reminiscent of fighting games and Fist of the North Star. For his role, Bill Skarsgård underwent significant physical transformation through weight loss and intense training to bring depth to his silent performance. The music for the film is composed by Ludwig Forssell, known for his work on Hideo Kojima’s projects and Belle (2021).
