The exhibition “Claude Monet – A Question to Landscapes” will be held at the Artizon Museum in Kyobashi, Tokyo, from February 7 to May 24, 2026.
Claude Monet, a pioneering Impressionist painter active from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, is known for his use of soft colors and warm light in his works, particularly in landscape painting.
This exhibition, marking the 100th anniversary of Monet’s death, will showcase over 40 pieces from the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, along with approximately 140 works from domestic museums and private collections, including the Artizon Museum. The exhibition will explore key locations in northern and northwestern France, such as Le Havre, Argenteuil, Vétheuil, and Giverny, which were significant to Monet’s creative process. It will carefully trace the development of his art during these periods. Additionally, the exhibition will delve into the connections between Monet’s work and contemporary art forms, including painting, photography, ukiyo-e, and Art Nouveau crafts. An immersive video work created by contemporary video artist Ange Leccia as an homage to Monet will also be displayed.
