Khaki Announces Release of Unreleased 12-Track Album “Hakko”

Tokyo-based immersive art rock band Khaki has revealed the release date for their much-anticipated second album, ”Hakko,” set to drop on May 21. The album will feature 12 unreleased tracks, with the lead single, “Hadaka, Michi Sugara,” already available for streaming since April 16. In conjunction with the announcement, the band has also unveiled new artist photos.

Known for their genre-defying sound, Khaki’s latest album marks their first release in nearly four years. The band has built a loyal following through electrifying live performances, with sold-out shows in 2024 at Shibuya WWW for ”Zenkitei Teirei” in May, followed by ”Koukitei Teirei” in July at Shibuya WWW X with guest Soshi Sakiyama, and a solo performance ”Solo Concert” in December at Ebisu LIQUIDROOM.

The upcoming album includes 12 brand-new tracks, all written collaboratively by the band. With an experimental sound that blends various genres, ”Hakko” challenges traditional boundaries, and features an eclectic mix of influences. Takumi Hashimoto, the band’s drummer, designed the album artwork. Hiroto Nakashio (Vocals/Guitar) shared his thoughts on the new album, commenting:

“This album is like the foam on the surface of skin reflecting the flickering of a city. It’s coming out!”

In addition to the album release, Khaki will embark on a nationwide tour starting in May, visiting seven cities across Japan. The tour will feature performances with Texas 3000, NOT WONK, Kaoru Nakamura, and aldo van eyck. The Hokkaido leg of the tour will be a special double-headliner event with ANORAK! The final show will take place on July 17 at Shibuya CLUB QUATTRO, where they will be joined by The Novembers.
