The film ‘Here’ will be released in Japan on April 4, 2025. A new teaser and poster have been revealed ahead of the release.
Based on Richard McGuire’s graphic novel ‘Here’, the movie presents an epic narrative set around the theme “Everything happens here.” The story follows the lives of people living in a specific location on Earth, captured through a fixed camera spanning from ancient times to the present. Central to the plot are Richard and Margaret, a married couple. In 1945, after returning from the battlefield, Al and his wife Rose buy a house, where Richard is later born. As the world rapidly changes, Richard, a gifted artist, dreams of becoming an artist, but his life takes an unexpected turn when he falls in love with Margaret, who attends a different high school.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, best known for ‘Forrest Gump’ (1994), which won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Director, and Actor, the film reunites Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, who play Richard and Margaret, respectively, 30 years after ‘Forrest Gump.’ The film also brings back the same cinematography, music, and costume staff from ‘Forrest Gump,’ reinforcing the creative continuity.
Zemeckis shared, “I always strive to work with talented people I enjoy working with. I’ve always wanted to collaborate again with Tom, Robin, and Eric, and when this opportunity came, I was excited. It felt natural to take this chance.” Tom Hanks remarked, “Robert is someone I can always trust. Robin was busy, and our schedules didn’t align, but I’ve always wanted to work with her. I’m thrilled we finally got the chance to make something together.” Robin Wright added, “This has been one of the best experiences of my career. It’s my fourth collaboration with Robert, and for Tom and Robert, it’s their sixth or seventh. At this stage in my career, working with old friends is precious. It feels inevitable, like family. We understand each other’s thoughts and methods so well.”
The newly released teaser opens with Richard introducing Margaret, who will later become his wife, to his father. The trailer then transitions through scenes spanning different periods, showing Richard and Margaret at various ages, from their teenage years to their 70s. The video concludes with Richard, now in his 70s, holding Margaret’s hand as warm light filters through a window, and he says, “This was our home. We lived here.” Using cutting-edge VFX technology, Hanks and Wright portray Richard and Margaret at different stages of life, seamlessly transitioning through the years.
