The “Hokkaido Food Film Festival,” where the魅力 of food and film come together, will be held from Friday, November 22 to Sunday, November 24, with the main venue at the Higashi 1-Chome Theater Facility in Sapporo and multiple locations around the Chuo Ward.
The festival will showcase a variety of food-related films, including Shiawase no Pan (Starring Yo Oizumi) and Food Floor: Life in a Box (starring Ken Yasuda), featuring works from TEAM NACS, the festival’s special supporters. Other titles on the lineup include 461 Bento Boxes, Family Recipe, and Midnight Diner. Actors and directors are expected to attend screenings, and tickets offering meals in conjunction with films, such as “Meal & Cinema Viewing Tickets” and “Cinema Dinner Tickets,” will also be available for purchase.

As part of the support project for Noto, the documentary LE CHOCOLAT DE H, which closely follows world-renowned pastry chef and chocolatier Hiroyuki Tsuji, will also be screened. Tsuji and director Takashi Watanabe will attend the event, and attendees will receive a special gift: “Bonbon Chocolat Suzu no Shio (Ash Selection 4 Pieces)” created by Tsuji using salt produced through the traditional agehama salt-making method from Suzu City, Ishikawa. A portion of the proceeds from the screening will be donated to the areas affected by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake through the Japanese Red Cross Society.
At the opening event on the first day, Hiroyuki Morisaki and Barbie (of Foren Love) will host, with Mimu Takitani serving as the assistant MC. Guests include members of TEAM NACS, director Katsuyuki Motohiro, Koyuki, and Katsuya Inohara, among others. Additionally, Oizumi & Azumi’s Zumi Zumi Talk Show with Yo Oizumi and Shinichiro Azumi will be held. The opening film will be Mugaritz: No Bread, No Dessert, a documentary about the Michelin-starred restaurant “Mugaritz.”
Other events include the “World Culinary Conference in HFFF,” where chefs from around the world will discuss the future of food, and a collaboration event featuring a new wheat bread and sweets sale, “Mugi Fest 2024 in Hokkaido,” scheduled for fall 2024. Additionally, from November 21 (Thursday), approximately 30 restaurants in the area will participate in “Sapporo Cinema Bar,” where showing a digital passport will grant a drink and snack for 1,100 yen (tax included).
