The event SIDE-B “RECORD EDITION” focused on record culture will be held on November 29 (Friday) at “BLOOM GATE,” an event space located on the 3rd floor of Shibuya Sakura Stage in Tokyo.
SIDE-B is a project that supports people who have a “B-side”—a different persona or activity from their usual work or main profession. Examples include “a serious office worker by day, but a DJ and composer by night,” “a VTuber and Vocaloid producer who’s actually a college student,” and “a shop assistant who’s also a dancer, or more recently, a TikToker.” The project opens up available dates at BLOOM GATE, which features two large screens, to these multi-faceted adults involved in music, video, dance, and other “SIDE-B” activities, fostering new culture and co-creating communities.
This edition, SIDE-B “RECORD EDITION”, features DJs who are active in multiple fields and highlights record culture. The event will celebrate the revival of city pop, a genre that has gained renewed attention both domestically and internationally, along with jazz, enka, and classic Western pop music. Attendees will experience the rich sound unique to records. The event will also shine a spotlight on the “B-side” allure of vinyl, bringing hidden gems and rare tracks from iconic albums to the forefront.
Performing artists include Kunimondo Takiguchi (RYUSENKEI), Nao Kodama, and Hiroko Otsuka, with VJ Kazuki Honma. The event will also feature a DJ talk session where the DJs will discuss records, along with a record sale organized by the music bar “ront” in Koenji. Additionally, the event will host a “one-box” record sale and is calling for general public vendors to participate.
