The Japanese poster and trailer for the film ‘Emmanuelle,’ set to be released on January 10, 2025, have been unveiled.
Based on the eponymous novel by Émile Arsan, regarded as a masterpiece of erotic literature, the film is a reimagining of the 1974 hit ‘Emmanuelle,’ directed by Just Jaeckin and starring Sylvia Kristel. The new ‘Emmanuelle’ follows a self-sufficient woman who, while on business in Hong Kong, seeks to explore her own pleasures at a luxurious hotel. Directed by Audrey Diwan, who won the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival for ‘Happening,’ the film stars Noémie Merlant as Emmanuelle, with Naomi Watts, Will Sharp, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Anthony Wong in supporting roles.
The poster features Emmanuelle lying naked on a luxurious bed, while the trailer depicts her intriguing encounter with a mysterious man, Kei Shinohara (Will Sharp), at the hotel, as well as her interactions with various enigmatic characters that lead her to liberate her inner desires. Additionally, scenes reminiscent of ‘Emmanuelle,’ include her seducing a man on an airplane and receiving sexual guidance from a woman she meets locally.
Additionally, ‘Emmanuelle,’ will have its Asian premiere at the 37th Tokyo International Film Festival on November 1 (Friday), featuring a talk show with director Audrey Diwan.
