The free-entry event “Sound & Chair’24,” themed around records, music, and craft beer, will take place from November 1 (Friday) to November 10 (Sunday) at the Tamagawa Marukobashi Second Square and Picnic Square in Kawasaki, Kanagawa.
Organized by epigram, which operates the TAMAGAWA ALL BREWERIES ALLIANCE (TABA) project aimed at revitalizing the Tamagawa river area, the event will feature over 50 types of craft beer from 16 local microbreweries, paired with various food options. It will also host live performances, DJs, and a record market. The venue will encourage a “chairing” style where attendees can set up outdoor chairs wherever they like to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere.
The lineup includes 13 live acts and 28 DJs, with the full timetable available for all ten days. On November 4 (Monday, holiday), the duo of singer-songwriter Takuro Okada, known for collaborations with Satoko Shibata, and drummer Tatsuhisa Yamamoto, who has supported artists like Eiko Ishibashi and Jim O’Rourke, will perform. Additionally, sound creator Yosi Horikawa will also take the stage. On November 9 (Friday), DJs Kaoru Inoue and Atsuko Satori will perform, and on November 11 (Sunday), there will be a live performance featuring ermhoi, known for work with black boboi and MILLENNIUM PARADE, alongside jazz artist Marty Holoubek.
On weekends and holidays during the event, there will be a record market hosted by labels and record shops, along with a market for lifestyle goods. Kawasaki is recognized as the birthplace of domestic vinyl records, and on November 3 (Sunday, holiday), Audio-Technica will premiere an original short documentary exploring the city’s history.
Additionally, on November 2 (Saturday), the “Candle Scape Kawasaki 2024” will illuminate approximately 3,000 candles, and on November 9 (Saturday) and 10 (Sunday), regional events featuring inflatable attractions, including a large 13-meter slide, will take place under the “Fuwafuwa Tamaland” banner.
