NiEW’s Free Admission Event ‘exPoP!!!!!’ Returns to Shibuya’s O-nest This November

NiEW presents the free admission music event “exPoP!!!!! Vol.167,” scheduled to take place on November 29 (Friday) at Spotify O-nest in Shibuya, Tokyo.

Sponsored by PCI MUSIC’s comprehensive artist support platform “bazoo,” this edition will feature five acts: Roman Kakumei, Karakorum no Yamayama, Hashirikomies, Ashikoshi Genki Kyoshitsu x Higan, and liquid people.

Roman Kakumei is a five-member band formed in Kyoto on Children’s Day in 2017. They are dedicated to celebrating the romance inherent in Japanese culture, the essence of music, and the romance that undeniably exists in today’s world. Believing that music is always in its dawn phase, the members moved to Tokyo in 2024. In September, they released a new EP titled “Overflowing,” which includes the collaborative track “Uwatsuita Kimochi” with Shinza DOPENESS. They are currently on a one-man tour titled “PRAY for ROMANCE,” which runs from October 14 (Monday) to February 2, 2025, covering five venues across four cities.

Karakorum no Yamayama is a cinema pop band formed in 2021 by four graduates from Aoyama Gakuin University and Waseda University. Each member has diverse musical roots, allowing the band to showcase a variety of styles in their songs, including funk, techno, and Spanish influences. In their live performances, they deliver intense renditions of loop music centered around complex time signatures. In August, they released their latest EP titled “Weekly Extravagance,” and in September, they held a two-man live show with Hidetaka Mukai Acoustic & Electric. Additionally, an artist collective based on Karakorum Mountains is actively contributing to the live scene through VJing, music video production, and stage design.

Hashiricomies is a duo band formed in Tokyo, consisting of Ataru (Vocals) and Sawa (Drums). Since September 2023, their collaboration with BEAMS has featured Ataru’s illustrated work “Chewi Illustration” on permanent display at BEAMS Ikebukuro. They have also gained significant attention from the fashion and art communities, being selected in the music category for the 2024 edition of Soen magazine’s “THE NEXT: The Next Person, The Next Creator.” In March, they released their full album “I Love You! Next to Music,” and kicked off their first solo live performance at Shibuya WWW, followed by a tour across the Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka regions. They have also participated in various festivals, including Mori, Michi, Ichiba 2024 and SYNCHRONICITY’24.

Ashikoshi Genki Kyoshitsu x Higan is a unit formed by the comedy duo Ashikoshi Genki Kyoshitsu, who won the competition “Major Debut Battle! Hachifes” on Fuji TV’s weekly show Shinya no Hachimitsu!! Bee The TOP, and the rapper Higan. They made their major debut with the single “SOFUBO” under Sony Music on October 23 (Wednesday), and at this exPoP!!!!!, they will present a special stage featuring their comedy routines and music.

Liquid People, participating as a bazoo audition act, is an alternative rock band formed in 2023 in Machida, Tokyo. Influenced heavily by post-rock and math rock from the late 1990s to the early 2000s, each member sublimates and materializes their skills into the unique sound of Liquid People. In August, they released a five-track mini-album titled “Injection e.p.”, limited to 500 copies, through the established indie label KOGA RECORDS.
