An exhibition titled “Oasis Origin + Reconstruction,” centered around Oasis, is set to open on October 31 (Thursday) at New Gallery in Jimbocho, Tokyo.
This event is associated with the “Live Forever: Oasis 30th Anniversary Special Exhibition,” which will commence on November 1 (Friday) at the Roppongi Museum in Tokyo. The exhibition features a collaboration between photographer Jill Furmanovsky and collage artist/graphic designer Kosuke Kawamura. Attendees can expect to see documentary photographs of Oasis captured by Furmanovsky, alongside striking collages by Kawamura that creatively reinterpret Oasis logos, album covers, and portrait photographs.
Based in London, Jill Furmanovsky has photographed a multitude of iconic artists, including Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison, Bill Withers, The Who, The Clash, and Iggy Pop. She documented Oasis from their debut in 1994 through to their breakup announcement in 2009. The exhibition drew additional attention when Noel Gallagher presented Furmanovsky with the ICON Award at the Abbey Road Music Photography Awards in 2024, introducing her as “one of my closest friends.”

Kosuke Kawamura has made his mark across various fields, including creating the main visual for the “Katsuhiro Otomo GENGA Exhibition,” producing collages featuring “AKIRA,” and serving as the creative director for UNIQLO UT. At the “Live Forever: Oasis 30th Anniversary Special Exhibition,” he unveiled a new logo for Oasis, making him the first Japanese artist to collaborate with the band.

Comments from Furmanovsky and Kawamura regarding the exhibition have also been released.
During the preparation for this exhibition, I was thrilled to hear that the Gallagher brothers have reconciled and decided to reunite Oasis in 2025, just like any other Oasis fan.
This exhibition, which is linked to the “Live Forever: Oasis 30th Anniversary Special Exhibition” at the Roppongi Museum, reflects the lives of five young men from Manchester. In 1991, brimming with attitude, energy, and talent, they became one of the defining bands of the mid-1990s. Throughout their career, they produced timeless hits, and Noel and Liam Gallagher became rock icons.
I was very surprised to see Kōsuke Kawamura’s work using my photos. By intricately carving and reconstructing the images of Noel and Liam, he subtly represents the fragile relationship between the two brothers that is at the core of the Oasis sound, capturing their conflicts and reconciliations.
Jill Furmanovsky
As an Oasis fan, I am honored to have the opportunity to collaborate and create a work using Jill’s precious photographs.
Kosuke Kawamura
The exhibition will feature photographs by Furmanovsky, as well as collages and silkscreen works by Kosuke Kawamura. Additionally, original goods exclusive to the exhibition will be available for purchase. Further details will be announced soon.
