BABYMETAL is set to appear in the upcoming film ‘Heavier Trip,’ which will be released nationwide on December 20 (Friday).
This sequel follows the unexpected success of the 2019 Finnish film ‘Heavy Trip,’ which tells the story of “Impaled Rectum,” a rural Finnish metal cover band that hasn’t performed live in 12 years. The band struggles to create their first original song and aims to compete in Norway’s biggest metal festival. The original film quickly became a sensation, selling out screenings and generating massive buzz on social media, leading to its surprising blockbuster status.
In the sequel, BABYMETAL joins the narrative as the members of Impaled Rectum, who were arrested at the end of the first film, receive an offer from a renowned producer to perform at the German festival Wacken Open Air. However, they turn down the opportunity due to their lack of preparation and being incarcerated. When the guitar player’s family-owned reindeer slaughterhouse faces the threat of closure from a land developer, the band resolves to escape from prison to confront this urgent crisis.
BABYMETAL will take on a significant role in the film. SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL will have meaningful dialogue, and live performance scenes will also be included. Furthermore, stills from their scenes have been released.
