The “TODA BUILDING,” a towering mixed-use complex, is set to open on November 2 (Saturday) in Kyobashi, Chuo Ward, Tokyo.
This facility has been developed by Todakensetsu as part of a significant project focused on creating an “arts and culture hub” and enhancing “regional disaster resilience” in collaboration with the neighboring district. With construction completed on September 30 (Monday), the “Kyobashi 1-chome East District Plan,” which has been in progress since 2016, is now finalized.
The building features three levels underground and 28 above ground, with office spaces located on floors 8 to 27, and arts and cultural facilities alongside commercial spaces on floors 1 to 6. On the first floor, “Gallery & Bakery Tokyo 8分” will open, offering visitors a chance to enjoy bread and coffee in a space surrounded by art, managed by “THE CITY BAKERY” and “ArtSticker.” Artwork displayed in exhibitions will also be available for purchase. The opening exhibition will feature a solo show titled “Fragment,” showcasing new works by artist Kotao Tomozawa until December 1 (Sunday), with further exhibitions planned thereafter.

The public art program “APK PUBLIC” will be held in the common areas on the 1st and 2nd floors as part of Toda Corporation’s “ART POWER KYOBASHI” art project. The first installment, “APK PUBLIC Vol. 1,” is curated by Shihoko Iida, who is active in Japan and abroad, and features works by Shun Onozawa, Yukie Noda, Yuko Mori, and Atsuko Mochida under the theme “Possibilities of Spirals – Toward Infinite Opportunities. Not only office users but also passersby can freely view the public art.

Additionally, the nearby Artizon Museum will host the large-scale exhibition “Jam Session: Ishibashi Foundation Collection × Yuko Mohri — About Physis,” which will be the first major exhibition of Mohri’s work in Japan, starting on November 2 (Saturday).
On the 6th floor, the “CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO,” created by Sony Creative Products, will open, allowing visitors to experience “works,” “artists,” and the “process” leading up to them in a spacious environment. The exhibition hall is expected to host approximately four exhibitions per year, with the inaugural exhibition featuring “Anime ‘Demon Slayer’: Pillar Exhibition – And Into the Infinite Castle.”

Furthermore, a gallery complex representing contemporary art will open on the 3rd floor. The “Taka Ishii Gallery Kyobashi,” “Tomio Koyama Gallery Kyobashi,” “KOSAKU KANECHIKA,” and “Yutaka Kikutake Gallery” will come together to establish the Tokyo Station area as a hub for contemporary art.

In addition, the 8th floor will house the “TODA CREATIVE LAB ‘TODAtte?'” museum, part of the Todakensetsu Group. This museum will provide an interactive learning experience about the past, present, and future of the construction industry, as well as serve as a space for addressing and solving various societal challenges. The general opening is scheduled for early 2025.
