The film ‘THE BLUES UNDER THE SKIN’ is set to be released in theaters across Japan starting December 28 (Saturday). The Japanese poster visual and still images have also been unveiled.
This film blurs the lines between documentary and fiction, interweaving real interviews and performances from legendary blues musicians such as B.B. King, hailed as the “King of Blues” and recognized as an “American National Treasure,” and Buddy Guy, a leading figure in Chicago blues, with the story of a young couple living in Harlem, exploring their love and struggles. Originally released in France in 1973, this marks the film’s first theatrical release in Japan in celebration of B.B. King’s 100th birthday.
The still images feature scenes of B.B. King performing, as well as shots of the young couple, played by Roland Sanchez and Onike Lee, in Harlem, and a shot of Amelia Cortez, who plays Freddie’s mother.
