Lawson United Cinemas STYLE-S Minatomirai, a movie theater, opened in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, on Friday, April 26.
Opened as part of the 10th anniversary renovation of the commercial facility “MARK IS Minato Mirai,” it has a total of 12 screens and 1,050 seats, including wheelchair spaces. All screens and seats are equipped with “FLEXOUND Augmented Audio,” an immersive sound experience system based on patented technology by FLEXOUND of Finland. The “sound and vibration” emitted from the pillows and backs of the chairs allows visitors to feel the sound with their entire body, creating a more realistic visual experience. This is the first time that the system has been installed in all screens and seats. The regular movie ticket price is 2,000 yen for adults.
In addition, various special screenings will be held to commemorate the opening. All eight films in the “Harry Potter” series and three “Fantastic Beasts” films will be screened sequentially from Friday, April 26 through Thursday, July 11, and the “New Sound field Collection” of six films with realistic sound effects, including “Top Gun” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” will be screened on Thursday, June 28. The “New Sound field Collection” will be screened sequentially through June 28 (Thursday).
In addition, in conjunction with the Minato Mirai area event “STAR WARS DAY YOKOHAMA MINATOMIRAI 2024,” a series of nine “Star Wars” films will be screened from May 3 (Fri., holiday) to 6 (Mon., holiday). Viewers of all nine episodes will receive a special “Star Wars” fan certificate.
