SATOH and Harry Teardrop’s first collaboration song “Aftershow” will be released on November 29 (Wed.).
SATOH is a rock duo consisting of Linna Figg (Vo) and Kyazm (Gt / Manipulator). They are the organizers of the secret party “FLAG,” and have been working on their own creative projects with a wide variety of artists from Japan and abroad. On the other hand, Harry Teardrop is a bedroom rock artist with roots in China and Vietnam, currently based in Brooklyn, New York, and visited Japan in September 2023 to perform at “FLAG”.
The song was performed live by two groups at “FLAG” and attracted a lot of attention. Based on the mood of indie rock, the song is a mixture of Kyazm’s up-and-coming dance tune sound, Linna Figg’s shouts, and Harry Teardrop’s emotional vocals.
A teaser video directed by Linna Figg has also been released. In the video, you can listen to a part of the song in advance.
Following the March 2023 release of “BORN IN ASIA” and a release party tour across Tokyo and Osaka in April, I found a moment of quiet reflection. Surprisingly, my sense of unfulfillment outweighed my sense of accomplishment. Standing in a city park, the urban sounds and the motion of people and cars seemed to blend into the distance, presenting a beautiful and geometric scene that inspired me to write a song. Harry Teardrop later joined us at FLAG in Tokyo, adding significant strength to the song. Grateful for the collaboration, thanks, Harry!
SATOH Comment
Aftershow” holds a special place in my heart as it will forever be linked to my first performance in Japan, marking a significant milestone in my overseas career. When SATOH shared this song with me, I was immediately captivated by its power. I aimed to infuse a distinctive New York vibe by incorporating Jersey Club drums, and the lyrical part serves as a personal reminder to trust my instincts and acknowledge how far I’ve come. This journey continues, and I’m committed to giving my best! The connections and memories formed through this song are invaluable, and I hold them dear. I aspire to keep these bonds forever.
