The Mika Ninagawa exhibition “Eternity in a Moment” will be held from December 5 to February 25, 2024, at TOKYO NODE, the information dissemination center in the Toranomon Hills Station Tower, Tokyo.
The exhibition is produced by EiM, a creative team formed by photographer/film director Mika Ninagawa, data scientist Hiroaki Miyata, set designer Enzo, and others. Including a space supervised by guest artist and architect Sousuke Fujimoto, they have created 14 video installations and three-dimensional exhibits for this exhibition, making it Ninagawa’s largest exhibition to date.
This is also the first time that Mika Ninagawa has not exhibited a photographic work, and the core of the exhibition is a video installation that takes advantage of the “TOKYO NODE” space. The exhibition is structured like a film with a story, from the pandemic faced by the real world through the colorless exhibition, to the space expressing the brightness of life full of color, to the confrontation with the future, leading viewers to an immersive experience in which they themselves become a part of the work.
For the past several years, I have been experimenting and preparing for this exhibition many times. We have done many exhibitions in the past, but this is one of the largest ever, and completely different from all previous exhibitions. We are confident that you will experience a world like a peach garden. This time, we will be working as a team as EiM. This exhibition can only be realized here at TOKYO NODE and nowhere else, so please come and see it for yourself.
Mika Ninagawa (EiM)
We have named our exhibition at TOKYO NODE “Eternity in a Moment” in honor of the aesthetic sense that finds universal beauty in the transient things in our casual lives and moments. We hope that this exhibition will become a new place that will lead us into the future as we create experiences together with you.
Hiroaki Miyata (EiM)
I had the pleasure of supervising the final chapter of the exhibition space created by Ninagawa and Miyata. I created a space that breathes life into the works of light so that they spin a story as the final chapter of the exhibition. I hope visitors will experience a new experience of fusion with art.
