SKREW KID’s new album “New Flat” will be released on cassette tape on Saturday, November 4.
SKREW KID pursues a “tape funkiness” that accompanies everyday life, making full use of acoustic guitar and vintage rhythm machines. The concept of “New Flat” is based on the moments spent at “Flat Kitchen, ” a café/third place in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture, where SKREW KID himself is a regular customer.
Like the previous album “Inspirations,” a limited number of cassette tapes with different contents from the digitally distributed version will be released in advance on Saturday, November 4, with digital distribution scheduled for 2024. On the same day, a release party will be held at Casablanca in Nagoya, Aichi, with Lullatone, Yusuke Oshima of ALL OF THE WORLD, and others.

The cassette tapes are now available for pre-order at the official BASE store of the label THANKS GIVING. Other retailers will start handling them as soon as possible.

SKREW KID

A musician from Shimane, Japan. He formed the legendary electronic band ALL OF THE WORLD in Nagoya, playing guitar and programming, and released his first album “the dance we do” in 2004, which was highly praised by Ichiro Yamaguchi of Sakanaction as “his most influential work. He continued to release his second album “Finesse” in 2008 and his third album “lull” in 2021, his first in 13 years.
In parallel with the band’s activities, he started his solo project SKREW KID, releasing his first album “speak slowly” in 2005, his second album “room tapes” from Avex-owned binyl records/dive in! disc in 2010, and his third album “(s)” in 2018, and “Inspirations” in 2022, both distributed and released on cassette tape. Their warm sound with an analog feel has received enthusiastic support from some.
Moved from Nagoya to Fukui Prefecture in 2015. He continues to be active in producing music for corporate commercials and providing music to overseas labels. He has always been strongly attracted to “quality but unfinished” or “unfinished works” and says that it is important to leave room for the listener’s imagination by creating gaps in the sound.
