A Solo Live Show with Enhanced Sound and Visual Elements: “I Want People to See the Current YAJICO GIRL”

The solo live show “YAJI YAJI SHIYOUZE 2025” will take place in Osaka on February 21 and in Tokyo on March 7. What kind of experience are you aiming to create with this live performance?

Shikata: As I mentioned earlier, I felt that our last solo show really captured what we had been working towards. This time, we plan to refine and build on that. We have a lot of returning fans, so we’re discussing how to make this show a fresh experience while still delivering something they’ll feel just as good about—though in a new way. We’re continuing to brainstorm ideas as a band to ensure this show feels unique and special.

Dance music, particularly in terms of how the bass is handled, involves a lot of attention to sound details. How do you approach this aspect?

Shikata: Over the past year, we’ve been putting a lot of focus on fine-tuning the sound before every solo show, adjusting the details. The person handling the PA is really skilled with the low-end, so I feel dance music suits us well. I believe we were able to ensure the quality of that aspect in our last live show. For this upcoming performance, I want to dive a bit more into the visual side of things as well. Last time, Shun (Furuya) made some objects for us, and now we’re really focusing on how to take the visual elements, including lighting, to the next level. It’s something we’re currently refining.

Indeed, club music also relies heavily on the synergy with visuals and other visual elements, right?

Shikata:We talked about wanting to focus on that right after the previous live performance. Including that aspect, I think we’re doing something pretty interesting. Even for people who are used to attending live shows, I believe they’ll feel like they’re experiencing something new. I can confidently say that we’ve finally reached that point.

ShikataSince the band has been evolving, I really want people who are seeing us for the first time, as well as those who might not have connected with us in the past or those who used to like us but haven’t seen us recently, to come and experience the current YAJICO GIRL. I truly believe it will be a euphoric and enjoyable atmosphere, so I really hope they come.
