-I can sense the significance of mood when listening to Lexie’s music. By the way, is there something specific that both of you consider when collaborating with international artists on songwriting?
WAVY: When I work with overseas rappers, I often include lyrics with words that are symbolic of their countries.
Lexie: Collaborations often lead me to discover a side of myself that I didn’t even know. Musicians have many sides to them, and sometimes, when you work with someone, you realize that you like this side of yourself more than you thought you did. That is what I consider important.
That is why the most important thing is how honest you can be with yourself in the production process. I believe that you cannot express yourself in a way that moves people’s hearts unless you can honestly enjoy aspects of yourself that you did not know before.
-What country would you guys like to visit in the future for songwriting or live performances?
WAVY：I didn’t get to go anywhere during the pandemic, and I finally went on an Asia tour this year, but I haven’t been able to go to the U.S. yet. So I would like to do some songwriting in the US. (JP THE WAVY participated in the “Fast & Furious 9” soundtrack with the song “BUSHIDO,” also sang the Japanese image song “F&F (Family & Friends)” for the same movie). Apparently, the US has the second biggest audience on Spotify even though I’m not sure if it’s true or not, but it’s just a data.
Lexie: I would love to go to different parts of the world to meet fans who have told me they love me, even if it’s just a small group. I want to see how many people are actually there (laughs).
-Are there any rappers or producers you would like to collaborate with in the future?
WAVY: I don’t have a particular country or person I want to work with. I want to make music with anyone as long as they are cool.
Lexie: What WAVY just said is cool, so I’m going to take a crack at it and say, “I want to work with anyone who is cool, too” (laughs).
