Sarubakuchi’s contralto performance “ZOOOOOM” will be performed at at THEATRE in Shinjuku, Tokyo, from Thursday, December 28 to Saturday, December 30.
Sarubakuchi is a theater company launched in 2019 by Ryo Kawamura, Tsuru Murakami, and Mitsuki Itaba, who met in a college theater club. The group’s characteristic is to create a pop, anime-like worldview unique to a theater company by making extensive use of sound and lighting.
The performance will be a three-person play written by five members including Murakami, under the theme of “a zoo where you can enjoy contrivances. The script was provided by Tomohiro Ito (LLR), Runa Inoue (Tsuyu to Makura), Yuto Ushiro (absurdist contraption unit MELT), Kyosuke Fujita (Karugamo Danchi), and Tsuru Murakami (Sarubakuchi). Performers include Ryo Kawamura, Tsuru Murakami, and Mitsuki Itaba, all members of the troupe. Tateo Aranami also appears in the video between the contraptions.
