The Korean film “Soulmate” will be released in Japan on February 23, 2024 (Friday, national holiday), and a trailer and visuals have been released.
Based on Derek Tsang’s directorial debut film “Soulmate,” this is a new film set in Jeju Island, South Korea. The film is directed by Min Young-geun.
Despite having very different personalities and values, Miso and Ha-eun love to draw and have been best friends since elementary school. One day, 16 years after their estrangement, Ha-eun disappears, leaving Mi-soo with “a secret. When the unexpected and spectacular life of Mi-so and Ha-eun is unraveled, the story reveals a “secret only between the two of them” that cannot be watched without tears. Mi-soo is played by Kim Dami, who appeared in “Itaewon Class,” Ha-eun by Jung Son-hee, and Jin-woo, who is deeply involved in their relationship, by Pyeong Woo-seok.
The released trailer includes a scene of young Miso and Ha-eun running along an island beach while laughing, a painting by “author Ha-eun” featuring Miso as a high school student, and the two grown-up girls tearfully embracing each other. The visual features Miso and Ha-eun smiling and playing with each other, and the catch copy used in the trailer, “The ‘secret’ makes me strong.
