ZAZI・ZOO
Formed in 2022. A collective of multiple playwrights, directors, and actors who gather under the name “Agaricuti Python,” sometimes using individual names, to exchange theatrical perspectives and create together. Each member maintains an independent consciousness as a creator, repeatedly fusing and separating while keeping the core idea of “play” somewhere nearby. The collective's stance places utmost respect on “the individual and the space.” Members, each knowledgeable in contemporary art, fashion, music, sports, and more, enjoy changing their performance formats and styles as freely as changing clothes they feel like wearing at the moment. Additionally, they focus on performance styles shaped by spatial changes, drawing inspiration from groups like Red Tent and Ishinha, as well as Noh theater. They experiment with performances not only in theaters but also in homes, bars, outdoors, and various other locations. Moreover, during the pandemic, individual perspectives on “gathering” have also been shifting. By meticulously gathering and observing these trends, the group reexamines the very form of collective life.
