Roka’s Vision for the Future
Do you have any specific vision for the kind of artist you want to become in the future?
Roka: At this point, I don’t have anything very concrete, but I do hope to continue making music. It would be nice if I could occasionally participate in big events that would make my family and friends happy.
I think the stage will keep evolving, so in three years, you’ll probably be saying something completely different [laughs].
Roka: That’s true [laughs]. As the phases change, I think the view will change too.
What I’ve gathered from today is that you’re someone who follows what you love—whether it was the influence from One Direction that led you to perfect your hairstyle, or your journey through the dance & vocal school, or how you independently started producing music after discovering blues and learning DAW. All of those have come together to shape you as the artist you are today, Roka.
Roka: Thank you!
Last but not least, what have you been into lately outside of music?
Roka: I love manga. Finding new works is so much fun, and I read various ones, mainly in action and fantasy genres. Right now, I absolutely love a manga called Gachi Akuta serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine. It’s a unique work, and it’s soon going to be adapted into an anime. I’m really excited about it. I’d love to sing the theme song for it someday [laughs].
