Kichijoji GORILLA’s stage play “Nemurenu Mori no Hitobito” will be performed from June 12 (Wed) to 16 (Sun) at STUDIO ZAP! in Akebonobashi, Tokyo.
Kichijoji GORILLA is a theater group formed in June 2019 by its leader, Takaya Hirai, together with graduates of Seikei University’s Ensosha Theater Company. The group is characterized by its use of contrasts between the past and the present to depict people in difficult situations who are unable to go mad due to their self-consciousness and earnestness.
The performance is a collection of three short plays performed by two teams, “Lemon” and “Grapes” and is total produced by Takaya Hirai, the group’s leader. “Lemon” will perform “Kahei” “Yumemitai” and “Nemurenu Mori no Hitobito”. “Grapes” will perform “Toro” “Katorea to Urei no Mori” and “Nemurenu Mori no Hitobito”.
“Kahei” is based on Osamu Dazai’s novel of the same title, directed by Takaya Hirai, and features Rui Ichishima (Kichijoji GORILLA, yhs). “Yumemitai” is written and directed by Yasunari Hirai (Kichijoji GORILLA, 24/7lavo) and features, in addition to Yasunari Hirai, Misato Nagatomo (Kichijoji GORILLA,: Aqua modeplanning:), Miyuki Mitsuyama (Kichijoji GORILLA), Tomomi Kitagawa (Popopo), Yoshihiko Kitagawa (zyunana senchi), Motoyuki Gotoh (Theatre Family Sweet Home). “Nemurenu Mori no Hitobito” is written and directed by Takaya Hirai, with Ryo Shinohara and Mao Suzaki among the cast.
“Toro” is based on Osamu Dazai’s novel of the same title, directed by Takaya Hirai and performed by Maaya Kusaka (Kichijoji GORILLA, Jomin-Ichiza-Bikkindaaz). “Katorea to Urei no Mori” is written and directed by Misato Nagatomo, and features Nahoko Ozawa (Iihenji, AYamaguchi Ayako no Iru Toride), Haruhi Kano, Kenta Kubo, Manami Narita, and Taketo Hironaka (Nemunoki). “Nemurenu Mori no Hitobito” will be written and directed by Takaya Hirai, the same director as the “Lemon” team, with Yasunari Hirai and Haruka Tomiyama as the performers.
