The crowdfunding campaign by world’s end girlfriend titled “My Approach to Generating Support for Gaza from the Enormous Joy of Music” is currently underway.
World’s end girlfriend, who released the first album in seven years titled “Resistance & The Blessing” comprising 35 songs and spanning 145 minutes in September 2023. In the crowdfunding campaign, tickets for the release commemorative live event “Night of Resistance and Blessing,” to be held at EX THEATER ROPPONGI in Tokyo on May 8th (Wednesday), as well as music and video data, are being sold. It’s explicitly stated that 10% of ticket sales, 80% of music/video data sales, and 40% of merchandise sales will be donated to support Palestine and the Gaza Strip through the Japan International Volunteer Center (JVC).
Comments from world’s end girlfriend have also been released in support of the crowdfunding campaign. The support will be accepted for about two months until April 21 (Sun.).
Comment from world’s end girlfriend
The purpose of this crowdfunding campaign is not just to raise funds for hosting a live event or to collect donations and support. In the midst of the various tragic events happening around the world, we each grapple with how to respond—whether to ponder, study, give up, turn a blind eye, or actively engage in activities.
Currently, in Palestine and the Gaza Strip, an unprecedented number of children are being killed, making the situation unbearable. Personally, the decision to donate or provide support leaves an unsettled feeling, and I still don’t know what the truly right course of action is. Should one offer support here and turn a blind eye there? Is my judgment genuinely correct? Could this lead to further division and bloodshed? The situation is urgent, and perhaps it’s not the time to be pondering such matters.
Living a seemingly normal life in a society that harbors such significant distortions, I wonder if I am inadvertently contributing to the violence. Day by day, my mind and heart become filled with various questions and contradictions. Nevertheless, I cannot suppress my urge for expression. I want to release and celebrate life through music even more, transforming life and death into music. I want more people to experience it, overflowing with joy, sadness, fun, and anger—both from me and those who listen.
I prioritize my own musical expression (desires).
Amidst this world, while fully expressing my musical creativity, I wondered if we, the performers and the audience, could move our hearts freely without feeling guilt (or even while acknowledging it) even if just for a brief moment. Could we savor our works and performances without guilt, letting the joy of music seamlessly lead to support and donations?
Could the joy of experiencing music and saving someone’s life coexist without contradiction?
With these thoughts in mind, I decided to undertake this project.
