NEW ERA, a screening of works by Troika Amano, Takayuki Kojima, and Tatsuaki Mizoi, will be held on Friday, December 15 at Nakano ZERO Audio Visual Hall in Nakano, Tokyo.
The event is organized by independent culturezine “MEANTIMEΣ.” Five films by Troika Amano, “Irekawari,” “A Narrow Space,” “Modern sins,” “The Man Who Never Came Back,” directed by Takayuki Kojima, and “Postmortem Photography,” directed by Tatsuaki Mizoi, will be screened together in a 2.5 hour program.
Troika Amano is a contemporary artist working mainly in video and photography. She overcame childhood bullying and bipolar disorder, and through her experiences, she projects reality = nonfiction within fiction through her works under the themes of “decomposition and reconstruction” and “decomposition of emotion and memory. Three short films will be screened on the day, including “Irekawari,” which won the German, Spanish and Swedish Short Film Awards.
Takayuki Kojima has directed music videos for a wide range of artists, including Stray Tenor, Creep Hype, Motohiro Hata, and ℃-ute, and his short films “Karamaru Snake” and “Darekano Darekano”, which he directed, won numerous awards at film festivals in Japan and abroad. On the day of the festival, his new film “The Man Who Never Came Back” will be screened, in which “guilt” is the theme. The film tells the story of a young couple and their wife’s missing ex-husband’s insurance money.
Tatsuaki Mizoi is a photographer and filmmaker. Mitsuki Moriyama won the Best Actress Award at the Sipontum Arthouse International Film Festival in Italy, and has also won awards at film festivals in England and Iceland. The film won awards at film festivals in the U.K. and Iceland. The story begins when a photo studio on the verge of going out of business due to the war receives a request for posthumous photographs.
Tickets for the screening are on sale at STORES for ¥1,000. Three filmmakers will also be speaking at the event.
