The Peruvian Film Festival vol. 2 will be held at K’s cinema in Shinjuku, Tokyo, from October 21 (Sat) to November 3 (Fri).
The second edition of the festival, following the one in 2021 to commemorate the bicentennial of Peru’s independence, will be held in five cities: Tokyo, Kyoto, Yokohama, Osaka, and Gunma. More than 10 films of various genres and themes, including documentaries and fiction, will be screened at once.
The lineup of films to be screened includes “La pasión de Javier” (original title), about the legendary Peruvian poet Javier Erro, who is celebrating the 60th anniversary of his death, and “Retablo,” which won the double International Special Jury Prize and Teddy Newcomer Award in the Generation 14 Plus section at the 2018 Berlin Film Festival The film has been selected for the festival.
Other films scheduled for screening include “The Night the Queen Boiled”, a film that examines the LGBTQ situation in Peru, and “The Joy of Living with Alpacas”, a film by Oscar Catacora, director of “Andes, Alone”, which was released in theaters last year.
The festival will start on October 21 (Sat) at K’s cinema in Shinjuku, and will be held sequentially in five other cities in addition to Tokyo: Kyoto, Yokohama, Osaka, and Gunma. For more information, check the official website.
