#the-telephones

the telephones, formed in May 2005, is a dance rock band influenced by post-punk and the new wave revival. They made their major debut in July 2009 and marked a significant milestone in 2015 with their first solo show at Nippon Budokan to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Later that year, they hosted a self-produced event at Saitama Super Arena before announcing an indefinite hiatus.

In December 2019, the band made a triumphant comeback with a solo live show at Zepp Tokyo. After bassist Ryōhei Nagashima departed in May 2023, the band continued as a three-member lineup with Akira Ishige, Nobuaki Okamoto, and Seiji Matsumoto. Embracing a fresh direction, the telephones blend their signature band sound with club music styles like house and techno, all while staying true to their mission of getting audiences to dance.

In January 2025, they will kick off the "PAPUN BAND × the telephones Presents LV1 to LV99 Tour - GAME START -" in collaboration with Taiwanese band PAPUN BAND.
