Born in Tokyo in 1983. In 2001, he won the Gunzo New Writer's Prize for Outstanding Work for "Silhouette," in 2003 the Noma Literary Newcomer's Prize for "Little by Little," in 2015 the Shima Kiyoshi Romance Literature Prize for "Red," and in 2018 the Naoki Prize for "First Love." Her major works include "Narratage," "Ōkina kuma ga kuru mae ni oyasumi" and "Arare mo nai inori"
